Seeing Beneath the Surface

OCT is an advanced, state-of-the art, imaging system based on coherence domain optical technology which can perform a three dimensional cross–sectional scan of the back of your eye. The result is very similar to ultrasound imaging, but using light rather than sound.

Our Topcon 3D OCT-2000 system provides a clear, high resolution, digital photographic image as well as an OCT image. The sequential measurement at the same point gives a greater understanding of pathophysiology of the retina.

A variety of analysis functions also allow us to detect corneal conditions by combining colour photography and 3D OCT images. OCT offers highly advanced screening for glaucoma, detachments, diabetes, age related macular degeneration and more.

OCT and photographic records will be stored on our computer giving an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of your eyes.
